Tilghman Island logo

Maryland emergency management officials say they expect to get some federal funding from a port security grant program to build a radar and video tower on Tilghman Island.

Officials plan to construct a 140-foot tower at an inn the state owns and leases out as a conference facility.

WBOC reports that the tower will hold a radar unit, surveillance camera and microwave antenna.

It will be used to track commercial shipping and other traffic approaching ior leaving the Port of Baltimore.
