Federal authorities have prompted a number of universities in Delaware to be on the alert for a threat of violence.

The schools include the University of Delaware, Widener University, Wilmington University, Delaware State University and Delaware Technical Community College.

The Wilmington News Journal also reports there are some schools in Philadelphia that have also received warnings.

The paper reports that the Wilmington University website says the threat is not aimed any particular school.

At Widener University officials say that security will be increased in the view of the threat.

The University of Delaware is also stepping up security…with the UD Police saying they will be monitoring the situation closely.
