DAGSBORO, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say they've charged a 17-year-old from the Bethany Beach area with bringing a pellet gun and knife to Indian River High School.

Police say a concerned student alerted administrators on Monday that the student had a knife and a gun.

A school resource officer responded to the school, cleared the classroom where the student was at the time and searched the student.

Police say the detective found an 8-inch knife in the student's boot and a pellet gun in his book bag.

Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier says the student was charged as a juvenile with two counts of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and released to a parent, pending an arraignment in family court. Police did not identify the student.
