Swimming Advisory in Rehoboth Beach

Don Rush

State officials have issued a swimming advisory for the Rehoboth Avenue beach area in Rehoboth Beach because of high bacteria levels.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control says the advisory will be in effect through 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that authorities say animal sources appear to be the cause of the increased levels.

Authorities say it is unlikely that the increase came from surface water.
