Sussex County Panel Rejects Recommending Belle Terre Development

Sussex County Seal

The Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission has voted not to recommend the Belle Terre housing development.

WBOC reports that that developers wanted to construct 333 single family homes and duplexes on 124 acres of land near Knoll Road.

The panel was concerned about the fact that the development had a higher density the five nearby residential communities.

The developers had argued before the Planning and Zoning Commission and the County Council that since the Love Creek Elementary School was being built next to the proposed development it was the next logical step.

But the television station found there were concerns about the potential for traffic congestion by  the neighboring communities.
