WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities say the powerful storm drenched Delaware and a large part of the East Coast, causing some temporary road closures around the state.

Officials told the Wilmington Journal that Delaware 9 had to be closed on Wednesday for a time near Augustine Beach, with emergency broadcasts calling the roadway "completely washed out."

The Delaware Department of Transportation also reported closures Wednesday along Del. 9 south of the Cedar Swamp Wildlife Area and Del. 299, south of Odessa. Reports described the area as temporarily "impassable" on Wednesday afternoon.
