State Budget Writers Meet Early in Delaware

Delaware State website

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware's General Assembly doesn't reconvene until January, but members of the legislature's budget-writing committee are already getting down to work.

With Delaware's economy relatively stagnant and the state's financial picture uncertain, members of Joint Finance Committee planned to meet Thursday in Dover to discuss state spending on Medicaid, one of the biggest budget expenses.

Committee members plan to meet again on Nov. 7 to discuss spending on public education, and the millions of dollars in grants awarded each year to nonprofit groups and community agencies.
