stmichaelsfd.org

An overnight fire in St. Michaels has left one person dead.

Police say the call came in around 12:30 a.m. for a blaze that struck a single-story house on North Street.

Fire Chief Phil Jones told WBOC that once the fire crew put out the blaze they discovered a body in one of the bedrooms.

He added it was that of an adult male may have been the only person in the home at the time of the fire.

Authorities are now trying to identify the body.

Meanwhile, investigators are looking into how the fire began and how the person inside the home died.
