Spots Disappearing for Punkin Chunkin

It’s that time of year to sign up for Punkin Chunkin and let the pumpkins fly.  

It’s been two years since the famous event has been held due to insurance issues.

Yesterday was the first day for contenders to register their devices for this year’s event in November.

It is returning to Sussex County after which was canceled after 2013.

Frank Payton, president of Punkin Chunkin, told WBOC that the even has already secured insurance and that 98 chunkers have come back.

He said that means there are only 17 spots left.

In 2013 the event raised $175-thousand for charities and scholarships with some 30-thousand people in attendance.

The television station reports that one change will the presence of onsite venders for selling alcohol.

In the past it was BYOB.
