Special Mental Health Unit to Close at Delaware Hospital

Christiana Health Care System

Christiana Care Health System is closing its outpatient mental health facilities beginning with the Rosenbloom Center on February 20th.

It is part of an overhaul of its behavior health care services.

The new plan hits parents, advocates and many medical professionals hard, who said, that it will seriously affect people who suffer from mental illnesses including bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hospital officials say that they plan to move psychologists, social workers and therapists into their primary care practice.

Around 2-thousand Delawareans rely on the programs.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the changes are expected to be completed by May.
