The largest solar farm in Delaware was dedicated yesterday with Governor Jack Markell calling the Milford Solar Farm the future of clean renewable energy projects.
Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation will buy the power from the farm under a 20 year agreement.
The wholesale electricity utility has been shifting away from fossil fuels toward renewables.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that all Delaware electric utilities will have to purchase 3.5 percent of their power from solar sources within 12 years.
And the company is around half towards that goal.
