Snow Returns to Delmarva

Don Rush

The winter has blown in -- at least -- one more blast of snow this morning.

There’s a winter storm warning in effect with 2 to7 inches of snow already on the ground.

The rest of the day is expected to turn into a mix of snow and rain.

400 men and women from Delaware Department of Transportation have been working since 9 p.m. last night, salting and plowing the roads. So far, snow amounts are heaviest in Sussex and Kent Counties

The highest snow accumulation is in Selbyville at 7.4 inches while Harrington got 5.7 inches, Dover 4.8 inches and Greenville at 2.7 inches.

Delmarva power reported only around 120 outages in Sussex County which have been restored.

State offices in Kent and Sussex Counties have been closed. Those in New Castle opened late.

At the major airports Reagan National Airport was closed while BWI and Dulles airports have seen a number of cancelations.

Motorists are urged to drive carefully even as the snow plows are out clearing the roads.

Government offices and schools have been closed today because of the snow.
