Snow Coming Tonight

The first major snow storm of the year for Delmarva is expected to hit tonight.

There will be winter storm watch for Somerset, Wicomico, Worcester and Dorchester counties beginning at 6 p.m. and running through tomorrow night.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that forecasters expect from 3 to 6 inches of snow.

In the Virginia counties of Accomack and Northampton accumulation is expected to be up to 5 inches.

Turning to Delaware Sussex County and the state beaches are expected to get from 4 to 6 inches of snow.

Also expect strong winds and subzero wind chills by Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the J. Millard Tawes is breaking 4 to 5 inches of ice around Smith Island for school transportation, mail and commercial fishing.

Don’t expect the highs to get much above 30 degrees.
