LEWES, Del. (AP) - Wildlife officials say eight piping plover chicks fledged this season at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes.

Beachnesting bird monitors reported that six pairs of piping plovers cared for the chicks until they could fly.

Wildlife biologist Matthew Bailey of the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife says two piping plovers nesting in Delaware had been banded in New Jersey.
