Shoplifting Down in Dover With On-Line Mug Shots

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover Police say shoplifting complains have dropped 19 percent in the four months since it started posting mug shots of people arrested for the crime online.

Officers also there were fewer than 1,000 shoplifting complaints made in 2014.

The department started posting mug shots of those arrested for shoplifting in August. The photos are posted weekly on the department's website and social media accounts.

Police had investigated an average of three shoplifting cases.
