NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Police say a suspect in a double shooting at a Newark motel eluded officers despite a five-hour search.

Lt. Mark A. Farrall says a man shot two people in the rear parking lot of the Americas Best Value Inn on Monday afternoon and they walked into the lobby to report the shooting.

Farrall says a 38-year-old man who was shot in the shoulder and chest area and a 22-year-old woman's back was grazed by a bullet. Both were treated at Christiana Hospital and released.

The department's Special Operation Response Team went door to door in the motel and also searched the adjacent Wize Guyz Sports Lounge & Grill, but did not find the shooter.

Farrall says investigators aren't ready to release the name of the suspect.
