Senator Chris Coons Expected Announcement on Iran Nuclear Deal

official website

Senator Chris Coons is expected to announce this afternoon whether he will support the Iran nuclear arms deal.

WBOC is reporting that the Delaware Democrat’s office says he was still talking with colleagues and constituents about the agreement.

His announcement comes at a time when a group called the American Security Initiative is airing ads on the television station urging him to reject the deal.

The station said that it even got him to watch one of the ads that used his own words casting doubt on the Iran agreement.

Afterward he said the words were accurate but incomplete.

Congressman will have to vote up or down on the deal this month but there is a question as to whether opponents can get enough votes to override the president’s veto.

At the moment there are 31 senators who have come out in support of the agreement.

The president needs 34 to sustain his veto.
