Senator Ben Cardin is scheduled to tour Crisfield and other areas today hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.
He will be checking out how the recovery is going especially after the delay in federal assistance by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The Maryland Democrat noted that this is an economically-disadvantaged area where almost 600 homes were affected.
He wants to make sure that people know about federal help such as the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program.
The window to apply for the Nutrition Program for Somerset County residents runs out on January 13th.
Applications will be accepted at the disaster Recover Center in Crisfield or at the Somerset D-S-S office in Princess Anne.
For other FEMA assistance the deadline is February 13th.
