ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Police say one man is missing after a 17-foot sailboat sank in the Chesapeake Bay near the Bay Bridge.

Maryland Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says the boat ran into trouble around noon on Sunday. She says it sank so fast that the six people on board didn't have time to put on life jackets.

Thomson says another boater nearby came to their aid and pulled five people from the water. She says the boaters reported that they saw the missing man go under the water and did not see him resurface.

The man is 42 year Adrian Perez old and lives in Upper Marlboro. His son was rescued along with another man, his two sons and daughter.

There have been 16 boating fatalities in Maryland this year. The search will resume on Monday.
