The senior administrative staff at the Sussex Technical School District have been put on paid leave.
The action comes as officials investigate financial mismanagement issues that cropped up on during a recent audit.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the state auditor’s office found a local businessman and his company sold a piece of land for twice what he paid for it within a two seek period.
Michael Horsey and his company Common Sense Solutions had bought land the school system wanted for a bus entrance for $111-thousand and then sold it to the school district for over $205-thousand two weeks later.
The state auditor’s office found that the school officials did not get a fair market appraisal of the land before buying the property.
