SBY Marathon Planned for Next Year in Salisbury

Salisbury is looking to join other cities like Boston to hold a marathon that will draw runners from across the country.

Mayor Jake Day told the Salisbury Daily Times that he has never run a marathon before but next year he’s going to give it a try.

And he showed up at yesterday’s news conference to make the announcement in running shorts.

The SBY Marathon would encompass a 26.2 mile course that would include North Park Drive, North Schumaker Drive and Nutters Cross Road before heading back into Salisbury.

The Daily Times reports that by noon yesterday 25 people had registered for the race at $50 apiece.
