A Salisbury University student has been diagnosed with a rare case of tuberculosis.

Local health officials are reaching out to the community for anyone who might have come into contact with the student.

Lori Brewster with the Wicomico County Health Department told the Salisbury Daily Times that there was no risk of additional exposure to people at the university.

The unidentified student is now under medical care and is no longer attending classes.

Health officials say they are reaching out to those who had close contact with the student including classmates.

They are also offering screening for TB, an infection that affects the lungs.
