Salisbury Police Officer Involved in Lawsuits Leaves Force

official photo

The Salisbury Police Officer who has been the object of a number of federal lawsuits has quit the force.

Police Chief Barbara Duncan says that Officer Justin Aita has quit to pursue other opportunities.

She emphasized that it was his decision and that the department wishes him well.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that it received a list of all the Salisbury Police Department members through a Freedom of Information Act and his name was not on it.

The paper notes that the officer has been named as the defendant in five federal lawsuits.

In addition, he has settled a lawsuit in a case filed last year by an inmate at the Eastern Correctional Institution.
