Salisbury Firefighters Brought Back to Fill in Part Time

salisbury fire department website

Most of the firefighters in Salisbury who lost their jobs when a federal grant ran out last week have been brought back – part time.

Mayor Jim Ireton said that the 10 will be used to fill in the schedule as needed.

They will be paid $15.74 an hour.

That money will come from the $19-thousand in remaining overtime funds in the department’s budget.

The Mayor has proposed hiring four firefighter/emergency medical technicians for an estimated cost of $160-thousand through the end of the fiscal year.
