The latest FBI statistics found that the downward rate of violence crime in Salisbury has stalled dipping slightly from 369 in 2011 to 366 last year.

The city ranks 25th for such crimes with a population of between 25-thousand and 50-thousand.

In 2011 it ranked 17th.

Salisbury has a population of just over 30-thousand.

The Salisbury Daily Timesreports that the most common violent crime last year in the city was aggravated assault with 229 offenses.

For Maryland the city has the third-highest number of crimes after Baltimore and Frederick while having the sixth-highest population in the state.

Salisbury officials point to efforts by the city to deal with crime including the Safe Streets program which was launched by the police department and other agencies a few years ago.
