Salisbury City Council Member Apologizes

official photo

In a tearful moment during last night’s session Salisbury City Council member April Jackson apologized for using the term “retarded” to describe President Trump on a Facebook page.

She had compared the president to the clients at the Holly Center which helps people with developmental disabilities.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that her remarks were in response to the president’s decision to fire missiles at a Syrian airbase last week in retaliation for that country’s chemical attack.

She has since deleted the post and said that she regretted her remarks being taken the wrong way.

Mayor Jake Day had reacted to her initial posting saying that he was “pretty shocked”.

At this week’s council meeting several members of the public said they attended the session to express to say that they too were offended.
