The Salisbury City Council will be looking at a $61 million operating budget for the fiscal year of 2019 tonight.

Mayor Jake Day’s spending plan would hold property taxes at the current rate but up the water and sewer rates by 8 percent effective October 1st.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that his spending priorities range from reducing homelessness and strengthening neighborhoods to street cleaning and safe alternative transportation.

The mayor also plans to highlight some of his priorities at a public event at noon on Wednesday at Parking Lot 16 on East Market Street.

That is on the opposite side of the river from the proposed location for the new amphitheater.
