Restrictions on Personal Data Use by Auto Insurance Companies

creative commons

Delaware lawmakers are looking at legislation that would keep auto insurance companies from using information like age and credit score to raise someone’s rates.

The measure would only allow issues such as prior at-fault accidents and the number of years the person has been driving.

In addition, there is a Good Driver provision that would reduce a person’s rate by 10 percent.

But one insurer told WBOC that this could result in the elimination of other discounts to make up the difference as a result of lower rates.
