BALTIMORE (AP) - Hundreds gathered at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport on Sunday to protest an executive order banning refugees from entering the United States.

Protesters carrying signs chanted, "no hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here."

On Sunday, social media reports said crowds were spilling out of the international terminal. Protesters held signs that read, "Welcome home," and "No Ban, No wall," among many others.

TheWilmington News Journalreports that Delaware leaders including Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester and Senator Tom Carper attended a protest at the International Arrivals terminal of Philadelphia International Airport on Sunday. In a tweet Carper said he would "speak with officials and demand that refugees are not detained or denied entry."

Protests have erupted at airports in cities across the United States in response to an executive order signed Friday by President Donald Trump that bars any refugees from entering the country for 120 days, imposes a 90-day travel ban to the U.S. for citizens of seven majority-Muslim countries and indefinitely blocks any Syrians from coming to America.

DULLES, Va. (AP) - Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is denouncing President Donald Trump's decision to suspend the nation's refugee program for four months and indefinitely bar Syrians from entering the country.

The Democrat said during a press conference at Dulles International Airport on Saturday that he has asked Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring to look into "all legal remedies" available to help individuals who may be detained in Virginia.

McAuliffe said he has heard that a family is being held at Dulles, but is trying to confirm that with federal officials.

McAuliffe called Trump's action "discriminatory," saying it will "breed hatred toward Americans around the globe."

Virginia University Students Protest

Scores of protesters have gathered at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond to voice their opposition to President Donald Trump's executive order barring refugees from entering the United States.

Demonstrators convened at the Compass Plaza on VCU's Monroe Park campus on Sunday for a protest organized by the group Resist RVA.

Photos posted to the group's Facebook page show a large crowd with demonstrators holding signs that say, "Resist," "American Values First!" and "Love Not Fear."

Virginia Court Order

A federal judge in Virginia issued a temporary restraining order that for one week will block green card holders arriving at Dulles International Airport from being removed from the country.

The order, issued Saturday by U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema, also says that anyone detained at the airport should have access to a lawyer.

The motion was filed by the Legal Aid Justice Center on behalf of more than 50 permanent residents detained at Dulles on Saturday.

The order came shortly after a judge in New York granted a temporary stay preventing refugees entering the United States from being deported.
