Efforts to raise the minimum wage in Delaware to $10.25 an hour in the next four years have hit a legislative snag.
The measure failed to get a vote in a House Committee after being approved by the Senate.
Representative Gerald Brady told the Wilmington News Journal that he did not believe he had enough votes to get his measure out of committee.
Currently, the state’s minimum wage is $8.25 an hour.
Supporters said that increasing the minimum wage would be a boon to workers as corporate profits rise.
Republicans countered that they believed increasing the minimum wage would hurt small businesses.
