Salisbury University website

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Officials at Salisbury University say college police are investigating an image of a hanging stick figure with a racial slur that was found on a whiteboard at the library.

University spokesman Richard Culver tells The Daily Times of Salisbury that the image was found Sunday. In addition to the hanging stick figure and racial slur, the image also had the hashtag "(hash)whitepower.

Salisbury University police are investigating the incident as a potential hate crime.

University President Janet Dudley-Eshbach wrote a letter to the campus on Monday denouncing the "act of intolerance" discovered in Blackwell Library.
