There is an effort in Delaware to have the $29 million left over from the financial crisis settlement to go to the Delaware State Housing Authority.
The Delaware Housing Coalition’s Nonprofit Housing Agenda is made up of 16 groups.
And it said that giving the funds to the agency would ensure that all of the money would go toward housing.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that last year the group had supported Attorney General Matt Denn’s proposal that provided assistance not only for affordable housing and help with foreclosures but also programs for substance abuse and teachers in high-poverty areas.
The coalition includes the Delaware Housing Coalition and Habitat for Humanity as well as the Attorney General.
The Joint Finance Committee will take up the question at the end of this month as it considers the state budget.
