Punkin Chunkin Could Be Coming to Dover's International Speedway

Punkin Chunkin website

The famed Punkin Chunkin event could be moving to Dover’s International Speedway this fall.

Earlier this year the event lost its venue near Bridgeville over liability issues.

The Speedway would provide a much bigger space that would allow the pumpkins to be shot further than ever before while generating revenue for the venue.

Gary Camp, a spokesman for the Speedway, told the Wilmington News Journal that events like the recent Firefly Music Festival and Punkin Chunkin were a natural fit.

He called it a win-win for everyone.

Last year the number of people showing up for Punkin Chunkin was over 20-thousand with 115 teams in 15 categories and competition.
