Public Meeting Tonight on Two Big Chicken Farms Planned Near Farmington

creative commons

Residents concerned about the two big chicken farms that are slated for Southern Delaware will get a hearing at a meeting hosted by Kent County Commissioner Eric Buckson at the Levy Court building Tuesday night.

Two large chicken operators have plans for facilities that could house as many as 30 chicken houses combined near Farmington.

While there are chicken farms in the area the size has taken many residents aback.

They are particularly concerned about the impact on property values because of the smell from the farms.

WBOC found that those living in Farmington said they were not as concerned about the impact.

Some even suggested they like the idea that it would bring more jobs the area.

The television station’s efforts to contact the owners of the farms were unsuccessful.
