The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be hold a public meeting next month for property owners and residents in Sussex County so they can get a chance to look at the new flood plain maps.
The gathering will be at 4-6 p.m. on December 2nd at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown.
There will be representatives from various state and federal agencies in attendance who will identify the county’s flood-prone areas.
It’s the first time in 8 years that the maps have been updated.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that there are around 30-thousand properties in Sussex County that fall within the flood plains.
There are a total of more than 136-thosuand parcels in the county.
