There was a packed crowd last night at the Holy Family Church in the Newark area.
Residents were out expressing their strong opposition to a proposed 282-unit housing development across from the south side of Todd Estates II.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that most of the concerns centered on traffic congestion as well as development’s low-income housing.
The 182-acre development was once the site of Our Lady of Grace Home for Children.
The orphanage is located near Chestnut Hill Road and is will be demolished to make way for housing ranging from single-family homes and townhouses to apartments.
The property is owned by the Felician Sisters of North America.
