A Princess Anne Commissioner has been found guilty of extortion as well as misconduct in office.

Lionel Frederick could face more than ten years in prison when he is sentenced.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the case involved the extortion of $5-thousand for protecting fellow commissioner Dennis Williams from a challenge in the next election.

The Circuit Court Judge James Sarbanes did acquit him of theft and three other related offenses connected to the scheme.

The paper reports that the attorney for Frederick said his client would appeal the convictions.

Lee Clarke said his client disputes seeking money and that Williams did not take any vote that would have impacted the outcome of the election.
