Potential Ethics Problem at Charter Business Hgh School

Education, 123rf.com

Pencader Charter Business and Finance High School is considering a contract with a company that is connected to its outgoing board president.

That concerns the Delaware state Department of Education which has told the Board this raises “ red flags” that must be addressed.

The Board is expected to accept the resignation of Vince DiMauro as its president today even while it considers a contract with his Wilmington based Integrate LLC which charges up to $245 an hour for its work according to the state Department of Education.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the Dan Cruce with the department noted in an email that the board expects the contract for corporate governance and financial advice to cost no more than $50-thousand for the work.

DiMauro told the paper that the rate varies depending on the services provided.

There is a potential that the contract could run afoul of state ethics rules which prohibit a former state officials including a charter board member from seeking to do business with a public agency.
