Police Search for Caller Over False Shooting Report at Hospital

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Authorities are looking for a man who they say twice called to falsely report the presence of a shooter at Newark's Christiana Hospital.

Delaware state police Master Cpl. Jeffrey R. Hale on Thursday said 20-year-old Jackie I. Cosden of Newark used one of the hospital's phones on Wednesday to report that someone was shooting a gun on hospital grounds. Hale says the caller then ended the call, but called back a short time later, making a similar claim.

Authorities from multiple departments responded to the hospital, but found no evidence of a gunman.

Hale says investigators were able to trace the source of the call and identify Cosden as the caller.

Police have obtained warrants charging Cosden with terroristic threatening, falsely reporting an incident and malicious interference with emergency communications.
