Police Await Interview With Victim of Morgan State University Shooting

Morgan State University, msa.md.gov

BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say a man shot and wounded on the campus of Morgan State University was there to attend a sporting event.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Thursday that detectives were hoping to soon interview the victim, who was in surgery late Wednesday night.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot Wednesday afternoon at the campus student center. University officials believe neither the gunman nor the victim is a student and that the men knew each other.

Guglielmi says police believe the victim was on campus to attend a sporting event.  The Baltimore Sun reports that he was visoting his cousin, a member of the school's football team .

Guglielmi says police still don't know a motive.

Morgan State spokesman Clinton Copeland says classes are continuing as scheduled.
