Pocomoke City Gets Grant to Pave Route 13 Bridge

Pocomoke Bride, cityofpocomoke.com

Pocomoke City has secured $10 million from the Maryland State Highway Administration to pave the bridge over Pocomoke River on Route 13.

The span has been plagued by potholes.

Mayor Bruce Morrison told the Salisbury Daily Times that fixing the bridge has been one of his top priorities since he took office.

But he added he did not expect it to occur until 2014 or 2015.

The bridge decking will be completely replaced on the older northbound bridge which was built in 1959.

The southbound span built in 1966 will only get a deck overlay with concrete.

Contractors will be sought next summer.
