Pitch for Country Musical Festival on Farm near Harbeson

vote.de website

Around a hundred people showed up yesterday at a hearing by the Sussex County Council on a proposed country music festival that would be located on a large 1-thousand acre farm owned by the Baker family in the Harbeson area.

Alex Pires, the organizer of the event, told the Council that he was seeking a conditional use permit to hold two three-day music festivals in August of next year as well as three one day events for charity.

He plans to spend more than $5 million on the festivals with around 20-thousand people expected to show up.

These would be primarily in RV’s and would stay on the property for the event.

But many spoke out against the proposed festival.

They fear the noise and the impact on the surrounding area.

Pires told the Council he would shift the venue to Harrington if his application was denied.
