Pickets at Ocean Downs for Higher Pay

Don Rush

Pickets showed up at Ocean Downs last night as employees demanded higher pay.

Unite Here Local 7 noted that ever since the casino opened five years ago revenues have been going up.

The union pointed out that since last February the casino saw a 17 percent increase.

Joe Cavilla, general manager at Ocean Downs, told WBOC in a statement the casino has competitive salaries and raises.

He notes that the casino has 85 employees year round even though revenues drop by 42 percent during the off season.
