The Maryland General Assembly overrode Governor Larry Hogan’s veto of a measure that allows felons to vote while they complete parole or probation.
The key vote came from Democrat Craig Zucker who voted for the override first as a Delegate and then as a state Senator after his appointment.
The Senate vote was 29 to 16.
A similar bill now goes back to the House of Delegates where a second override effort will take place without his vote.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Republicans questioned the constitutionality of Zucker’s two votes noting that it could be challenged in court.
