Mountaire could be hit with a $40-thousand fine and is facing a number of work safety violation citations.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been conducting an inspection after the report of a work who lost a finger in their Selbyville plant.

The agency issued a number of citations early this month that included turning on a machine that resulted in the amputation.

In addition, the paper reports that the agency found repetitive motion work conditions that could result in injury.

The agency also found damaged equipment that could have caused injuries including burns and electrical shocks.

There was also a hazard alert letter that took the company to task for handling medical problems.
