Governor Martin O’Malley wants some outside help to look over Maryland’s procurement process for state contracts.
During yesterday’s meeting of the Board of Public Works the Governor issued his call as the panel extended a $4.3 million contract for a company to run a call center that takes questions about child support payments.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that board extended the contract because the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals found problems in the process for hiring a new contractor.
O’Malley said, "We can’t keep whistling by these incidents and pretending like this is Maryland at its best.{"
