Ocean City Works on Alternative for Dealing With Rentals

Meehan, oceancitymd.gov

Ocean City officials have begun discussing an alternative to banning leases of rental properties that are less than 12 months long along with creating special zoning.

That was the recommendation by the Ocean City Planning and Zoning Commission in June.

Yesterday officials began to hammer out an alternative at the City Council work session that would impose better controls on what can be done on rental property.

The Salisbury Daily times reports that the proposal would also create a special Rental License application for short-term rentals.

Mayor Rick Meehan said that he believed the proposal was a start but added more needed to be done.
