Don Rush

Ocean City is hoping for a Marine Rescue Facility that would preserve and protect sea animals’ along the Maryland Eastern Shore.

WBOC reports that Mayor Rick Meehan is looking at bringing such a facility to the resort.

Sandi Smith with the Maryland Coastal Bay Program told the television station that currently rescued sea animals are sent to Baltimore.

If built the mayor says it would become part of the resort’s downtown redevelopment project.

The city council has given its okay for Meehan to continue his talks with the national aquarium to locate such a facility in Ocean City.
