The Ocean City Planning and Zoning Commission decided not to include a new are that would limit short-term rentals in certain residential areas.
On a vote of 4-to-2 the commission left that proposal out of its comprehensive plan.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Ocean City now only allows four non-family tenants to rent a single-family unit in a residential development.
The paper says this comprises 5.4 percent of the resort’s residential units.
The current code does not limit the length of stay.
There have been numerous complaints over the years of noise and problematic visitors which led consideration of the proposal.
