An Ocean City family has been given the green light to install a set of wind mills on the roof of their Boardwalk home.
The three turbines will be the first in the resort on the roof of a single-family residence.
The Villa Santa family has been trying to get permission to construct them on top of their 14th Street house over the last year.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Town Council gave its unanimous approval this week after the city’s Planning and Development Director Jesse Houston recommended the project.
But there is a caveat.
The turbines must meet certain requirements that include they make less noise than 55-decibels and be the same color as the building’s roof.
The turbines will be four feet in diameter with rotating fans enclosed inside barrel-like structures.
